Can a robot really change a life?

Team 1662 is helping change the lives of young people and solve a problem of not enough students studying science in college. This has been the dream of Dean Kamen to find ways to get more young people interested in science. We thank our local benefactor, Doug Buhr, who sponsored the first robot back in 2004.

The Robotics Team is actually a group of teams working together: Build Team who build the robot's frame, Electronics Team who solder and wire up the components, Programmers and Drivers who write the software to make the robot move, Web Team who builds the website and documents team progress, Support Team who take care of logistics such as food and clean up to assist other teams.

To join Students need only have a desire to learn; And they work where they wish to work. The benefits cannot truly be measured as students learn: to compete by working together in teams, to work hard for goals, to build relaptionships with other teams and each other.

A historic ocassion, Israel has extended an invitation for our Robotics Team to come to their country to compete in their competition. This is the first time in FIRST history that any American team has been invited to participate and we are honored by their request. If you are interested in helping us meet our fundraising goals to get to Israel, please let us know.
